5 Highlights from this Trip:

  1. Sky Trek Zip Line in Monteverde — You're flying through the treetops of a cloud forest. It's the kind of thing that's hard to describe until you've done it.

  2. Bioluminescence Night Tour — Kayaking or boating through water that glows at night. One of those experiences that doesn't feel real while it's happening.

  3. School Visit & Dinner with Local Teachers — You visit a Costa Rican school and then later sit down for dinner with faculty from the Monteverde Friends School. Real conversations with real educators.

  4. Turtle Island Snorkeling & Curú Wildlife Reserve — One day you're snorkeling around Turtle Island, the next you're hiking through a private wildlife reserve. The biodiversity here is no joke.

  5. Sugar Cane, Chocolate & Coffee Tour — You see how all three are actually made, from start to finish. It's a quick way to understand what keeps Costa Rica running and your students will love hearing about it.

Travel Tips

Travel Tips image
general icon

Travel Tips

  1. Pack for all climates – Costa Rica has microclimates! Be prepared for sun, rain, and cool mountain air all in one trip.

  2. Bring bug spray & sunscreen – Mosquitoes are common, and the sun is strong, especially near the equator.

  3. Use colones or U.S. dollars – Both currencies are widely accepted, but having some colones is helpful in smaller towns.

  4. Tap water is usually safe – In most areas, especially cities and tourist zones, the water is drinkable. Still, ask just to be safe.

  5. Expect “Tico Time” – Life moves slower here. Embrace the relaxed pace and go with the flow!

  6. Learn a few Spanish phrases – While many people speak English, knowing basic Spanish goes a long way with locals.

  7. Respect the wildlife – Costa Rica is rich in biodiversity. Observe animals from a distance and never feed them.
