Trip Description

Join us as we explore places from three major islands of Luzon, Cebu Island, and Mindanao. You will learn about the Philippine education system, and immerse yourself in the warm, friendly culture of this beautiful island nation and its people as you visit several schools in different settings: urban & rural. Meet and connect with local teachers and students and take home a lifetime of memories!

Terrain:  Mostly flat, some hills

Activity Level:  Moderate to High because of the heat and some hills

School Visit:  Yes

This trip offers immersive professional development through school visits, allowing educators to engage directly with local teachers and students, observe classrooms, and participate in meaningful dialogue about education systems around the world. These experiences foster fresh perspectives and practical ideas to bring back home.

Professional Development – Medium Level

This trip includes educator discussions, offering authentic opportunities for cultural exchange and professional growth. While you may not be matched with your exact grade level, you’ll gain meaningful insights to reflect on and bring back to your classroom. Participants will receive a certificate for 20+ professional development hours. The true magic of PD on this trip comes from the organic conversations and connections you make with fellow educators along the way.

Graduate Credits- In addition, we have partnered with an accredited university to allow participants to earn 1 graduate credit for an additional $100 or 3 graduate credits for an additional $300.

Travel Tips

Travel Tips image

Travel Tips

  1. Pack light and casual clothes – It’s hot and humid most of the year. Lightweight, breathable clothing is your best friend.

  2. Respect local customs – Filipinos are friendly and hospitable, but modesty and politeness go a long way, especially in rural areas.

  3. Bring cash – Many places, especially on smaller islands, don’t accept cards. ATMs are available, but it’s smart to carry some cash.

  4. Island hopping is a must – With over 7,000 islands, plan time to explore more than one! Each has its own charm and beauty.

  5. Stay flexible with travel plans – Weather and transport delays are common. Build in buffer time and go with the flow.

  6. Try the local food – Don’t miss out on adobo, sinigang, fresh seafood, and halo-halo! Be adventurous with street food, but choose busy stalls for freshness.

  7. Use sun and bug protection – Sunscreen and mosquito repellent are essentials, especially when visiting beaches or rural areas.
