Professional Development – Medium Level

This trip includes educator discussions, offering authentic opportunities for cultural exchange and professional growth. While you may not be matched with your exact grade level, you’ll gain meaningful insights to reflect on and bring back to your classroom. Participants will receive a certificate for 20+ professional development hours. The true magic of PD on this trip comes from the organic conversations and connections you make with fellow educators along the way.

Graduate Credits- In addition, we have partnered with an accredited university to allow participants to earn 1 graduate credit for an additional $100 or 3 graduate credits for an additional $300.

Travel Tips

  1. Pack for all climates – Costa Rica has microclimates! Be prepared for sun, rain, and cool mountain air all in one trip.

  2. Bring bug spray & sunscreen – Mosquitoes are common, and the sun is strong, especially near the equator.

  3. Use colones or U.S. dollars – Both currencies are widely accepted, but having some colones is helpful in smaller towns.

  4. Tap water is usually safe – In most areas, especially cities and tourist zones, the water is drinkable. Still, ask just to be safe.

  5. Expect “Tico Time” – Life moves slower here. Embrace the relaxed pace and go with the flow!

  6. Learn a few Spanish phrases – While many people speak English, knowing basic Spanish goes a long way with locals.

  7. Respect the wildlife – Costa Rica is rich in biodiversity. Observe animals from a distance and never feed them.
